November is internationally recognized as LUNG CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.
Throughout the month, Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI) will provide a variety of events and educational opportunities to raise awareness about lung cancer in our community and help combat the stigma of this disease. Stay tuned to learn more about what we are planning for this year!
Awareness. Action. Advocacy.

There are so many ways to get involved and to support Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November. The 2025 LCAM calendar provides suggestions on how you and your friends, family and colleagues can take action to raise awareness all month long.
Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in the US and worldwide, but there is hope! RESEARCH is providing patients with more treatment options and longer survival than ever before. EDUCATION is helping people understand that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer and about the importance of screening–lung cancer caught in earlier stages has a much higher survival rate!
No matter who you are or how you have been impacted by lung cancer, we need you and your voice in educating, advocating and providing support.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month National Proclamation
As we enter November 2025, we continue our commitment to raising awareness and supporting those impacted by lung cancer. In previous years, both the President of the United States and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper have officially proclaimed November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, recognizing the importance of early detection, research, and community support.
We are currently awaiting Governor Cooper’s 2025 proclamation and remain dedicated to advancing awareness, screening, and advocacy efforts across North Carolina and beyond.
There are so many ways for you to get involved, so check out our LCAM resources web page and calendar to see how you can raise awareness and provide support all month long.
You can also get involved here at Lung Cancer Initiative by volunteering!
