STILL YOUR MIND: A Meditation Date Night for the Lung Cancer Community
Bring someone who matters to you — a partner, a friend, a caregiver, a family member — or simply come for yourself. This evening is designed for the whole circle of people touched by lung cancer: survivors, co-survivors, caregivers, and the ones who show up and keep showing up.
We’ll begin with dinner together, then move into an evening that is equal parts informative and experiential. You won’t just hear about meditation — you’ll try it, in a relaxed and respectful environment, with time to reflect and share observations as a group.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll start with a grounded, myth-free look at what meditation actually is — a trainable skill, not a spiritual performance — and what decades of clinical research from institutions like MD Anderson, Harvard, and Memorial Sloan Kettering shows it can do: reduce anxiety, ease fatigue, improve sleep, support emotional balance, and positively influence the stress-related biomarkers often disrupted by cancer treatment and its aftermath.
Then we experience it directly. Over the course of the evening you’ll move through several different styles of meditation — guided visualization, breath-supported awareness, music-only frequency practice, and more. Not because one size fits all, but because it doesn’t. You’ll discover which approaches feel natural, which ones surprise you, and which ones you might actually return to on a quiet morning when you need them most.
You’ll leave with a personal collection of practices that feel comforting, realistic, and genuinely sustainable for everyday life.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Anyone in the lung cancer community — survivors, co-survivors, caregivers, partners, family, and friends. You do not need prior meditation experience. You do not need to bring a date, but you’re warmly invited to. Sharing this kind of evening with someone you care about can be its own form of restoration.
