Spring Students Making a Difference

Spring Students Making a Difference
January 24, 2024

At Lung Cancer Initiative, our student volunteers are critical to carrying out our mission. We offer internships three times a year, spring, summer, and fall. Internships available include public health, marketing and communications, and special events. This spring, we are excited to welcome two undergraduate interns and one graduate intern who are already making an impact at LCI. Meet our amazing student volunteers and continue reading to learn more about how they are furthering their education through their work at LCI.

Jennifer Tran- Public Health Intern

Jennifer is a Public Health student at East Carolina University. Her public health interest is in disease prevention, so she is excited to get the opportunity to educate others about lung cancer and the resources/programs that LCI offers, such as the Gas Card program – which she helps manage! Her other interests include spending time with friends and family, road-tripping, and volunteering.

Anna O'Beirne- Marketing & Communications Intern

Anna is currently a senior at East Carolina University majoring in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health. She was born and raised in Greenville, NC. After graduation in May, she hopes to pursue a career at a Contract Research Organization. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and spending time with her dog.

Crystal Dailey- Public Health Intern

Crystal is a third-year graduate student in the Doctor of Public Health Program at East Carolina University. As a retired U.S. Navy Lt. Commander and Environmental Health Officer, she is passionate about global public health and its impact and importance in community health. She is thrilled to work at LCI as a public health intern and looks forward to increasing her knowledge of lung cancer initiatives through education, research, and advocacy.
