Paige Humble
MBA, Chief Executive Officer
Paige Humble leads the team at Lung Cancer Initiative as Chief Executive Officer. She is a graduate of Meredith College, with a Master of Business Administration, and she received her undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the LCI team, Paige served as Associate Director of Service Line Communications and Market Development at Duke Network Services where she served as Duke’s primary liaison for marketing and brand integration efforts with Duke Health’s affiliates. She is currently active representing LCI in the National Lung Cancer Roundtable, Lung Cancer Action Network, Health Research Alliance, and the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer and the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Jenni Danai
MPH, Chief Mission Delivery Officer
Jenni Danai has been creating and overseeing programs for the Lung Cancer Initiative since 2013. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and her master’s in public health from UNC-Greensboro. She has been in the healthcare field for 15 years; previously she was the Health Initiatives Manager for the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians where she managed grant-funded projects for several public health issues including health disparities, childhood obesity and tobacco. In her free time, she is busy running her two girls from horse camp to swim lessons and spending time with her husband.

Sandy Oehler
Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships
Sandy is Director of Strategic Partnerships for Lung Cancer Initiative. She has been with LCI from its inception, starting as a volunteer initially helping to launch the organization and 5K program, subsequently serving as a volunteer on the Board of Directors for over ten years. In October 2017, Sandy jumped at the opportunity to join the LCI team as a staff member. She is driven by her 21-years as a lung cancer survivor and as a result, she is passionate about making a difference for others impacted by lung cancer. When not at work, Sandy is very active and loves to hike, kayak, and spend time with her friends, family and her high-energy pup.

Lynne Hicks
CPA, Director of Finance
Lynne Hicks has managed all of the accounting needs for the organization since 2008. She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Albright College in 1986 and obtained her CPA license in 1993. She has been assisting with the accounting needs of various companies and organizations on a part time basis since 2002. She enjoys splitting her time between Cary and Boone with her husband and supporting both her children and grandchildren in whatever ways she can.

Susan Kjellqvist
MBA, Development Director
Susan Kjellqvist serves as the Development Director for Lung Cancer Initiative, where she oversees LCI’s development program and provides support for the organization’s fundraising events and advocacy programs. With 30 years of experience in marketing, development, and fundraising, Susan is committed to creating opportunities for individuals and organizations to unite in support of causes they are passionate about and fostering meaningful community connections. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, home improvement projects, gardening, reading, and traveling.

Claire Connelly
Director of Marketing
Claire serves as Director of Marketing at Lung Cancer Initiative, where she leads the organization’s strategic marketing, communications, and brand efforts. A creative and forward-thinking leader, she is passionate about crafting compelling storytelling and innovative campaigns that elevate awareness, deepen engagement, and advance LCI’s mission. Drawing on her marketing degree from the University of Florida and her background in events and nonprofit communications, Claire brings both strategy and creativity to every initiative, ensuring LCI’s message resonates across communities and platforms. As a breast cancer survivor, she is deeply committed to advancing both the science and human side of cancer care, with a strong passion for advocacy and meaningful impact in her local cancer community. Outside of work, Claire’s life is joyfully full — she’s kept on her toes by her twin boys and three dogs, and whenever she can, you’ll find her working out, experimenting in the kitchen, golfing, or getting lost in a good book.

Sue Daniels
Office Manager
Sue Daniels joined the LCI team in 2021 as the Office Manager. She received her bachelor’s degree in Communications from East Carolina University. Sue has a passion for public health, working with nonprofits, and serving others. In her free time, she enjoys photography, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.

Macy McFarland
Program Manager
Macy joined the Lung Cancer Initiative in 2025 as a Program Manager and brings a passion for partnership building and collaboration, believing that strong connections are key to meaningful change. She leads the Screening Saves program, focused on increasing awareness of lung screening resources and advancing early detection efforts across North Carolina and beyond. Born and raised in Oklahoma, she earned both her Bachelor’s degree and Master of Public Health from Oklahoma State University and is a Certified Health Education Specialist®. Outside of work, Macy enjoys running, spending time with her husband and their dog, visiting family, and cheering on college football.

Cheryl Lecroy
Survivor Liaison
Cheryl is a certified producer for Produce RX (a program where doctors prescribe vegetables for low-income, at-risk patients) and founder of Creative Juices Consulting where she provides health and wellness coaching. Cheryl has 12 years of personal experience as a breast cancer survivor and 10 years as a survivor mentor and coach in NC and SC. Cheryl brings a committed dedication and excitement to sharing wellness practices that enhance the lives and health of cancer survivors. Cheryl will work remotely from her farm in Seneca SC and will continue as lead for the annual Lung Cancer Wellness Retreat.

Juliet Black
Event Coordinator
Juliet Black joined the Lung Cancer Initiative as an intern from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and was soon offered a part-time position as Event Coordinator in August 2025. Passionate about crafting exceptional experiences, Juliet excels at planning seamless and memorable meetings. In her role, she oversees coordination of the LUNGe Forward Run/Walks. Before joining LCI, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the City of Durham. Juliet earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Mount Olive and a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism from UNC Greensboro. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Raychelle Leonard
Event Coordinator
Raychelle Leonard is a 13-year volunteer with Lung Cancer Initiative and Event Coordinator for two LUNGe 5k Events. She lost her father to lung cancer in 2014 and has been a passionate advocate of the cause, helping to raise money towards research, education, and support. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crossword puzzles, and true-crime documentaries.

Neal Ready
MD, Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Ready is a medical oncologist and researcher at Duke Cancer Institute who specializes in treating patients with lung cancer and head and neck cancer. Dr. Ready first realized he wanted to become a doctor in graduate school, because it gave him the opportunity to practically apply scientific evidence to help others. Dr. Ready now works with Duke’s research and clinical staff to come up with new and hopeful therapies for patients. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Lung Cancer Initiative and also serves as the Chair for the Scientific Advisory Committee.
