Raychelle’s Story

In 2013, I was invited by a friend to volunteer for the Triad LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk and Celebration in Greensboro, NC.  I went out and had a great time.

About 2 months later, my father was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.  He underwent surgery, radiology, and chemo.  We had plans for him to be at the next race on November 8, 2014, in Greensboro, NC.  We had a team, printed t-shirts, everything.  He passed away the day before the race on November 7, 2014.  The next morning, my sister and I, along with our team, completed the race in his honor.

I was living in Charlotte and decided to join the committee there…. I love the group of strong, amazing, and determined volunteers I get to work with.  A lot of volunteers are currently dealing with lung cancer or are survivors. I will be a part of this amazing group as long as they will have me.

Join me and the hundreds of others who will be stepping out to advance survivorship and provide support to those impacted by lung cancer through participation in this year’s Charlotte LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk & Celebration.  We can’t do it without you!
