Ginny’s Story

Stage IV Non-small cell Lung Cancer?  You could have knocked me over with a feather when I was diagnosed.  I was only 58, a non-smoker, VERY active and the picture of health.  I did not have the usual symptoms, only a pain in the middle of my back that would not go away. After a visit to my Primary Care Physician and a chest X-ray, my whole world changed dramatically.

Next came a biopsy, genetic testing, and the removal of a tumor that crushed my T4 (source of back pain).  After surgery recovery, I began targeted therapy and am currently a 6 year survivor.  I attribute my ability to live a normal and active life to my faith in God, the support of my family and friends, the fabulous care and research at Duke Cancer Center, and my will to stay positive.

I strongly believe in the sub-conscious mind as a form of healing and staying in tune with your body. If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked out.
